Special Note On Use Of Signal MUX Units with Magnetic Pickup Equipped Fenestron Tail Rotors

Early DSS Signal Mux units with umbilical connectors may be used on the Mag P/U equipped Fenestron Tail Rotors, however, they may suffer tach signal instability due to signal cross talk when processing magnetic pickup signals generated by the high speed interrupter. Signal Mux units manufactured or modified after September 2005 have enhanced cross talk immunity which eliminates this phenomenon.

In order to use any style Signal Mux unit, the Tail Rotor magnetic pickup / interrupter gap should be adjusted based on the particular signal mux being used. For the purpose of the interrupter gap adjustment in this procedure, Signal Mux units are categorized as follows:

Late Signal Mux units: Late style Signal Mux units are models 1440-1 (all) and 1450-1 (S/N1034 up) or any other Signal Mux manufactured or modified by DSS for enhanced tach signal cross talk immunity after September 2005.

Early Signal Mux units: Old style Signal Mux units are models 1102, 1115, or early 1450-1 (S/N 1033 and below) which were manufactured before Sept 2005 and have not been modified by DSS for improved tach signal cross talk immunity.
