I Can't Save Certain File Types Under Win Vista/Win 7 - How Can I Correct This?

When installing MicroBase Professional under Windows Vista or Windows 7, user permissions may not be set correctly in order to permit MicroBase Professional to save certain data types. When this is the case, users are not able to save modified copies of group files or message attachments. Users may be able to download application notes but then cannot open them for viewing.

Use the following checklist to correct this problem:

  • Log on to your computer with Administrator rights
  • If MicroBase is running, close it
  • Click Start - Computer, open the C: drive.
  • If using Windows 32Bit OS, drill down to C:\Program Files\Dss
  • If using Windows 64bit OS, drill down to C:\Program Files (x86)\Dss
  • Right Click on the MicroBase folder and select Properties
  • Click the Security tab, then click Edit.
  • Select the Users group and check Allow for the following permissions:
    • [X] Full Control
    • [X] Modify
    • [X] Write
  • Click Ok to save changes, OK to close the properties dialog, then close Windows Explorer
  • Start MicroBase Professional and file saving should work properly

Note: Downloaded Application notes should be deleted and fresh copies downloaded after the above procedure has been accomplished.
